Create an Event


Event Details

This screen is to define the event name and event date.

1) Event Name

The name of the event. This is used for managing events and cloud storage naming convention.

Note: You will need to name the event before proceeding to the next page.

2) Event Date

The date of the event. This is used on the event’s list page for sorting by event date and as cloud storage naming convention.

Note: The date does not limit when you can or cannot run an event. It is only used for sorting and folder naming.



Photo Settings - Still Images

When creating an event, you have the option to enable or disable Still Images mode.


1) Camera Choice

Choose which camera to use.

Options:

Front Camera

Back Camera

2) Countdown Timer

The number of seconds the camera will count down before the shot is taken.

Options:

1 to 5 seconds

3) Aspect Ratio

Select the aspect ratio for your still images.

Options:

Square (1:1 Ratio)

Rectangle (4:3 Ratio)

Print (6x4")

4) Overlay Choice

Paid Feature

Include your company’s branding on all images.

Options:

Logo

Overlay

5) Select A Logo

Choose an image that will best represent your business or event.

Options:

Choose Image

  • Camera Roll

  • Files
    Note: Files will connect to your selected Cloud Storage Service

6) Logo Position

Select where you would like your logo to sit on the image. Note: Positioning is only available for logos

Options:

Choose from one of the four corners or the centre of the image.

7) Logo Preview

View how your logo or overlay will appear on all Still Images.





Photo Settings - GIF

When creating an event, you have the option to enable or disable GIF mode. For GIFs, each photo is taken individually with a delay between each shot.


1) Camera Choice

Choose which camera to use.

Options:

Front Camera

Back Camera

2) Countdown Timer

The number of seconds the camera will count down before the shot is taken.

Options:

1 to 5 seconds

3) Aspect Ratio

Select the aspect ratio for your still images.

Options:

Square (1:1 Ratio)

Rectangle (4:3 Ratio)

Print (6x4")

4) Number of Shots

Set the number of shots taken in each photo session.

Options:

1 to 10 shots

5) Boomerang

Enable or disable Boomerang Mode.

6) Shot Delay

Select the number of seconds you prefer between shots.

Options:

1 to 5 seconds

7) Playback Speed

This determines the playback speed of the final MP4 and GIF asset.

Options:

Slow: Will play back approximately 3 shots in one second.

Medium: Will play back approximately 6 shots in one second.

Fast: Will play back approximately 12 shots in one second.

Note: All MP4 files are looped to gain at least three seconds of playback duration (necessary for Facebook and Instagram sharing). If the playback falls to say 2.9 seconds, we will automatically add the total shots to the loop again to take the total time to 5.8 seconds (2.9 + 2.9 seconds).

8) Overlay Choice

Paid Feature

Include your company’s branding on all GIFs.

Options:

9) Select A Logo

Choose an image that will best represent your business or event.

Options:

Choose Image

    Note: Files will connect to your selected Cloud Storage Service

10) Logo Position

Select where you would like your logo to sit on the image.

Photo Settings - Burst GIF

When creating an event, you have the option to enable or disable Burst GIF mode. For Burst GIFs, each photo is taken in quick succession (a burst).


1) Camera Choice

Choose which camera to use.

Options:

Front Camera

Back Camera

2) Countdown Timer

The number of seconds the camera will count down before the shot is taken.

Options:

1 to 5 seconds

3) Aspect Ratio

Select the aspect ratio for your still images.

Options:

Square (1:1 Ratio)

Rectangle (4:3 Ratio)

Print (6x4")

4) Number of Shots

Set the number of shots taken in each photo session.

Options:

1 to 30 shots

5) Boomerang

Enable or disable Boomerang Mode.

6) Playback Speed

Saving Settings

This screen is to set the saving options for each photo session.

1) Camera Roll Saving

Choose which assets to save on the camera roll.

Options:

Save MP4s to camera roll (enable/disable)

Save RAW images to camera roll (enable/disable)

2) Cloud Storage Choice

Paid Feature

This is a paid feature. You must Unlock Darkroom Booth for iPad to access this feature.

Select which cloud storage provider you would like to sync to.

Options:

Dropbox

OneDrive

Darkroom Booth for iPad will ask for authorization to manage files in its own directory. For Dropbox, files will sync to Apps/Darkroom Booth for iPad. For OneDrive, files will sync to Darkroom Booth for iPad.

Each event will automatically create a new folder to store the assets (configured below). The naming convention for the folder goes by year, month, day, and event name. For example, if the event "Darkroom Launch Party" was on the 10th of March 2020, the folder would be: <2020-03-10_Darkroom_Launch_Party>.

Note: Ensure you have enough storage space available on your cloud storage provider selected. We cannot check how much space is available, so you must always make sure there is enough space. If your cloud storage provider runs out of space, the sync will fail.

3) Cloud Storage Settings

Paid Feature

This is a paid feature. You must Unlock Darkroom Booth for iPad to access this feature.

Choose which assets to save to your cloud storage choice.

Options:

Save MP4s (enable/disable)

Save GIFs (enable/disable)

Save RAW images (enable/disable)

Save overlay images (enable/disable)

Save still images (enable/disable)


Sharing Settings

1) Email Sharing

This screen is to set the sharing options for each photo session. Unless you have unlocked Darkroom Booth for iPad, if you disable email sharing, there will be no share options available.

Options:

Enable Email Sharing (enable/disable)



2) Email From Name

Paid Feature

This is a paid feature. You must unlock Darkroom Booth for iPad Pro to access these features.

Enter your Email From name. For example, “Your Photobooth Co”.

Options:

From Name (Textbox)

Note: You also MUST set up a Custom SMTP Server to change the Email From Name.

3) BCC

Enter an email address which will be BCC’d into every email where an image is shared. This is beneficial for the purpose of collecting email addresses.

Options:

BCC enabled (enable/disable)

Note: enabling BCC will open a text box where you enter your email address

4) Email Attachment

Select what attachments you would like users to be able to send.

Options:

Send GIFs (enable/disable)

Send MP4s (enable/disable)

5) Email Subject

Enter your email subject. For example: “Your photo!”.

Options:

Email Subject (Text box)

6) Email Body

Enter your email body. For example: “Your photo is attached. Want to hire our photo booths for your event? Visit example.org”

Options:

Email Body (text box)

7) SMS Sharing

Choose whether or not users will be able to share images via SMS

Options:

Enable SMS Sharing (enable/disable)

Note: To enable SMS sharing, you must select a cloud storage provider.

8) SMS Attachment

Select what attachments you would like users to be able to send.

Options:

Send GIFs (enable/disable)

Send MP4s (enable/disable)

9) SMS Body

Enter your SMS body. For example: “Thanks for coming! Here’s your photo.”

Options:

SMS Body (text box)

10) Country Code

Once SMS sharing is enabled, you have the option to lock or unlock the country code. This means that if there are international guests at your event, they will still be able to receive their images via SMS.

Note: Text messaging providers are likely to charge different rates per SMS for international numbers.

Options:

Select Country Code (drop down menu)

Lock Country Code (enable/disable)

11) AirDrop Sharing

Select whether or not you would like Apple users to be able to share images via AirDrop.

Options:

Enable AirDrop Sharing (enable/disable)

SMS Configuration

To set up text messaging/SMS within the Darkroom Booth for iPad app, you will need to have either a MessageBird or Twilio account.

We suggest you set the SMS Configuration in your Master Settings within the app. Full information on how to set up text messages can be found here. If you wish to override SMTP settings at an event level, you can do so on this page.


Create Event

Press the Save button and your event will now be saved in the main screen of Darkroom Booth for iPad.


Final Steps

After pressing the Create button on the Sharing Settings, your new event will have been created and saved.

The dialogue box that was used to create the event will automatically close, and take you to the Event List. The new event will be located in the Event List, sorted by newest event date.
